Lindsey Rubinstein (she/her) joined Ween & Kozek in 2022.  Ms. Rubinstein focuses her practice on tenants’ rights, the Loft Law, and estate planning.  Her practice involves all types of pre-trial and trial litigation from initiation to disposition.  She is passionate about establishing good relationships with her clients and ensuring their needs are met.  Ms. Rubinstein has appeared and argued motions in state and federal courts in New York and elsewhere and has extensive experience in New York City Housing Court.

Prior to joining Ween & Kozek, Ms. Rubinstein worked as a Tenants’ Right to Counsel attorney with the Urban Justice Center Safety Net Project, where she litigated cases, negotiated settlements, and helped clients access public benefits.  Before UJC, Ms. Rubinstein worked at Southern Poverty Law Center as a Legal Fellow, where she litigated cases aimed at increasing federal and state funding for public schools.  In law school, Ms. Rubinstein’s focus was on constitutional law, primarily advocating for the rights of incarcerated people.

Ms. Rubinstein is deeply committed to social justice.  She graduated cum laude from Cardozo School of Law, where she was awarded several public service scholarships and awards.  During school, she worked on Cardozo’s Civil Rights Clinic advocating for the rights of disabled incarcerated people and people forced into long-term solitary confinement.  She also served on the Criminal Defense Clinic representing people in New York County charged with misdemeanors.  During her 2L year, Ms. Rubinstein published a paper for the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution entitled "Solving the Problem-Solver Problem: How a Revamp of Arbitral Ethics Will Encourage Plaintiffs and Benefit Defendants."  Before law school, Ms. Rubinstein earned a Bachelor’s Degree at American University where she was on the Dean’s List and studied Broadcast Journalism and Religious Studies.

In addition to her housing practice, Ms. Rubinstein is interested in estate and family planning, particularly for queer and/or nontraditional families.  She currently lives in Brooklyn with her partner and their two dogs.  Outside of work, Ms. Rubinstein enjoys gardening, knitting, and going to the beach.
